How do I find my FC 26 and Live Editor versions?

Run the launcher once, then inspect the beginning of its current log. Two adjacent lines identify the exact game executable and the editor release.

   Open the newest Live Editor log

   Look in the logs folder beside the extracted Live Editor files. Use the newest file from your last launch attempt.

   Find the two version lines

   Near the start, locate Game Version: 1.0… and Live Editor v26…. Copy the complete values, including every digit.

   Compare the pair—not the colours alone

   A green editor badge beside a red game badge means the installed editor can be current while the newly updated game build is not yet mapped to it.

What does “game version not compatible” mean?

The launcher found a game build for which your installed Live Editor has no approved mapping. It is a version gate, not proof that FC 26 or Windows is broken.

06 / LIMITS

Does “compatible” mean bug-free?

No. It means the official manifest assigns that game build to that Live Editor release range; PC-specific, feature-specific and release regressions can still exist.

This distinction matters. In one open report, Live Editor v26.2.8 failed on FC 26 v1.5.0 although that release falls inside the manifest’s historical v26.2.7–v26.2.9 range. A separate current-build report describes a repeatable overlay-path crash on build 1.0.139.20381. Both are community reports, not confirmed universal defects, so this page uses them to define uncertainty—not to prescribe their proposed file edits.

What should I do immediately after an EA title update?

Pause before launching the editor. Record the new game build, check the live manifest and continue only when your exact build has an explicit editor mapping.

• ✓Check the raw manifest, not a screenshot or an old YouTube description.
• ✓Download Live Editor only from the creator’s Patreon link.
• ✓Test a clean offline launch before adding FIFA Mod Manager mods.
• ✓If it fails, keep the full log and report the exact game/editor pair.
