01 / DIRECT ANSWER
Generate or import only after the manager passes the owner gate
Open F9 → Features → Managers, edit an exact CPU-team manager, then choose Manager → Miniface. Generate uses EA’s Player Capture System. Import requires an actual 512×512 DDS texture compressed as BC3/DXT5. Both create an external `heads_staff` override visible only while Live Editor works. Neither route supports your own Career manager.
Capture the current 3D manager.
EA PLAYER CAPTURESupply a compliant custom portrait.
512 · DDS · DXT5Not supported at present.
DO NOT FORCE IT02 / PORTRAIT ANATOMY
A miniface changes the menu identity—not the manager’s 3D head
Tables, lists and manager-facing interface surfaces.
Touchline body, mesh, textures and in-match rendering.
REAL-MANAGER SWAP? Match the 3D manager first, then update this separate 2D portrait. One does not prove the other.
03 / TWO INPUT ROUTES
Generate follows the model; Import follows your artwork
Use when the 3D face is already right and speed matters more than art direction.
- EA Player Capture System
- No manual DDS preparation
- Lighting/framing not documented
Use when crop, expression, light and real-world likeness need deliberate control.
- Exactly 512×512
- Actual DDS container
- BC3 / DXT5 compression
04 / INTERACTIVE MEDIA ROOM
Route the manager, inspect the DDS and build a proof receipt
The lab reads only local header metadata and never uploads the image. It contains no fake Generate, Import, Delete or Save button.
No game or file upload
Who controls this manager?
The creator documents Generate and Import only for managers controlling CPU teams. The portrait is a 2D menu asset—not a 3D head or face mod.
05 / STRICT FILE CONTRACT
Five independent checks make a manager portrait loadable
Not the 180px player canvas
Bytes begin with DDS magic
Standard DDS header size
Strict legacy FourCC
heads_staff_<ID>.dds
`portrait.png` renamed to `.dds` still contains PNG bytes. Export with a DDS-capable tool, explicitly select BC3/DXT5 and inspect the result.
06 / OBJECT CONTRACTS

The manager’s controller decides whether the workflow begins
Generate and Import are published.
Neither route works at present.
Hold; no behavior is defined.
Broad CPU wording; no separate proof.
Different objects and owners.
Offline Windows PC workflow only.
09 / GENERATE WORKFLOW
Capture the current 3D manager—then judge the resulting 2D image
- 01Confirm CPU control
Stop if this is your user-controlled Career manager.
- 02Record Manager ID and team
Protect identity before creating any override.
- 03Inspect the current 3D appearance
Generate photographs that model; it does not repair it.
- 04Open Manager → Miniface
Use Generate Miniface from the exact manager.
- 05Refresh a menu surface
Confirm the portrait belongs to the recorded ID.
- 06Judge crop and light
If the capture is dark or unsuitable, use Import; no capture sliders are published.
10 / IMPORT WORKFLOW
Prepare, prove and import one custom portrait at a time
- 01Keep an editable source
Do not resize or recompress the only original.
- 02Compose a square portrait
Make the face readable at small menu size.
- 03Export DDS BC3/DXT5
Set exactly 512×512; never rename PNG/JPG.
- 04Inspect the binary locally
Prove magic, header, canvas and FourCC before FC loads it.
- 05Open the exact CPU manager
Match name, Manager ID and current team.
- 06Manager → Miniface → Import
Select the verified file and confirm once.
- 07Refresh and compare
Verify the same ID; do not treat a dialog close as proof.
11 / MANAGER ID OWNERSHIP
The filename is a compact identity receipt
heads_staff_1067.ddsMANAGER ASSET+ID
ANTONIO CONTE+CONTAINER
DIRECTDRAW SURFACE
The Import dialog normally owns one-file placement. The filename becomes mandatory for direct folder/batch placement and indispensable when removing one broken override.
12 / STORAGE & RUNTIME
The portrait lives beside Live Editor—not inside the Career Save
mods\legacy\data\ui\imgAssets\heads_staffThe Wiki shows `C:\FC 26 Live Editor` as the default root. If your dedicated installation lives elsewhere, follow the same relative path under that active root.
The loader supplies the Manager-ID asset.
Expected behavior—not lost Career progress.
No Manager Save step is published.
13 / RESULT PROOF
A finished import needs identity, runtime and rollback evidence
A closed file dialog is not success. The only useful proof is the intended portrait on the intended manager while the documented loader is active.
14 / CRASH AFTER IMPORT
Remove the exact manager override before broad repair
DO NOT: delete the whole `heads_staff` folder, clear Career saves, reinstall FC 26 or change DirectX for a single malformed portrait.
15 / SYMPTOM MATRIX
Route the symptom to the smallest accountable owner
Remove one manager-ID file → verify 512×512 DDS DXT5 → retry
Return to source and perform a real DDS export
Match editor ID to heads_staff_<ID>.dds
Inspect the same ID file; do not edit the save
Start through a compatible Live Editor
Import a compliant custom portrait
Stop; no supported workaround is published
Use a separate head/face workflow
16 / DELETE & ROLLBACK
Rollback one Manager ID, not the entire portrait library
Use the control in the Manager Editor top-right.
`heads_staff_<ManagerID>.dds` from the active folder.
Re-test with Live Editor active.
The creator documents deletion, not an undo history. If the old portrait matters, copy it before Generate or Import.
17 / RELEASE BOUNDARY
Manager portraits arrived in v26.2.8; compatibility still comes first
Do not follow current navigation on an older build.
Dedicated Manager Editor milestone.
Match the FC executable through the manifest.

19 / FAQ
Manager portrait questions—without player or 3D-face leakage
01How do I generate a manager miniface in FC 26?+
For a manager controlling a CPU team, press F9 → Features → Managers, edit the exact manager, then choose Manager → Miniface → Generate Miniface. Live Editor uses EA’s Player Capture System.
02How do I import a custom manager portrait?+
Prepare an actual 512×512 DDS texture using BC3/DXT5, open the exact CPU-team manager and choose Manager → Miniface → Import Miniface. Select the file and confirm.
03What size and format does a manager miniface need?+
The current creator Wiki specifies 512×512 DDS with DXT5/BC3 compression. Extension, DDS bytes, dimensions and compression are independent checks.
04Can I use a 180×180 player miniface for a manager?+
No. The player and manager contracts differ. Manager portraits are 512×512 and belong in heads_staff with a manager-ID filename.
05Can I generate or import a portrait for my own Career manager?+
No. Both current manager-miniface Wikis explicitly say the feature does not work on your own manager, at least for now.
06Why does the manager portrait disappear without Live Editor?+
The portrait is an external Live Editor override. The creator documents that it is visible only while Live Editor is working; it is not a normal Career Save field.
07Where are manager minifaces stored?+
Under mods\legacy\data\ui\imgAssets\heads_staff inside the active Live Editor installation. The Wiki shows C:\FC 26 Live Editor as its default root.
08What filename is used for a manager miniface?+
Manual or batch placement uses heads_staff_<ManagerID>.dds. The official Antonio Conte example is heads_staff_1067.dds.
09Why does FC 26 crash after importing a manager miniface?+
Remove only the target manager override, confirm the manager opens, then re-export and verify an actual 512×512 DDS using DXT5/BC3. Wrong dimensions, renamed images and wrong DDS formats are documented common causes.
10Is renaming a PNG to DDS enough?+
No. Renaming changes only the filename. The file must be genuinely exported as DDS with the required dimensions and compression.
11Is a manager miniface the same as a face mod?+
No. A miniface is a 2D menu portrait. A face or head mod changes the manager’s 3D appearance and uses a different asset workflow.
12How do I delete or restore a manager miniface?+
Use Delete miniface in Manager Editor or remove the exact heads_staff_<ManagerID>.dds file. Restore the prior copy if you kept one; do not delete the whole folder.
20 / EVIDENCE LEDGER

Historical symptom language only; current manager Wiki controls recovery.
Checked: 18 August 2026 against thirteen technical/creator sources, four video artifacts, two audience threads and one archived symptom report.
Verified contract: CPU-team manager · Manager Editor · Generate or 512×512 DDS DXT5 Import · `heads_staff` · Live Editor runtime.
Hard stop: the user-controlled Career manager is not supported by either operation.
Unknown boundary: unemployed/national-only/custom-manager coverage, refresh timing, overwrite behavior, capture determinism and generated-file internals.
Local-test boundary: the lab reads DDS metadata only; no controlled FC 26 manager object was available for an in-game import.
Review trigger: Wiki revision, current screenshot, changelog fix, manifest change or reproducible CPU-manager before/after test.
